Long Blade weapon overview.
Long Blade is an all-rounder weapon. It has relatively fast attacks and tools for all situations. Its Zero Stance is a cancel that restores Stamina and allows you to restart your offense and its Impulse Edge is an OP consuming Gun blast that is used from Melee Form. It has a good set of Burst Arts that allows it to fight all kinds of Aragami.
Long Blade only deals Slash typed damage. Since the Impulse Edge uses OP, the Long Blade can benefit from having increased Max OP.
Strengths:
- All-rounder weapon
- Easy to use
- Has a Burst Art that restores HP
- Zero Stance is great for restoring Stamina
- Offers high variety in being able to change Impulse Edge type of damage with Burst Arts
- Soulsplitter is an especially good Burst Art
Weaknesses:
- Doesn’t particularly excel in any single aspect
- A little on the weaker side when compared to other Single damage typed weapons like Scythe, Hammer & Spear
This weapon is for players who like one weapon to cover all options and be able to deal with most situations. Zero Stance provides and easy way to retain Stamina so the weapon has little down time and Impulse Edge offers different kinds of typed damage thanks to its Burst Arts. The Long Blade is an overall easy weapon to use that most players should feel at home using. But it is a Jack-of-all-trades and Master-of-none.

RECOMMENDED BURST ARTS
Recommended Burst Arts are indicated with a in the tables above. Burst Arts that are recommended are due to them having appealing qualities such as good damage output, ease of use, low risk and good reward or good special passive effects. With that being said, I highly encourage all players to try out all of the Burst Arts and use what they like and feels natural to them. I also encourage players to change their Burst Arts according to what you will be fighting on the next mission to optimize mission efficiency.
Noteworthy Ground Arts:
- Swift Slash (一ノ太刀 絶閃)
- Flame of Purgatory (煉獄の劫火)
- Shining Ray (シャイニングレイ)
-
Soulsplitter (肉斬神断)
Swift Slash (一ノ太刀 絶閃) is a good Art for striking weakpoints because it has a narrow and long range hitbox. It can also be steered right up until the hit, but its charge time is especially long so you would need to use this in opening where you would be able to Quick Devour or when an Aragami is down.
Soulsplitter is a powerful counter Art that ignores a % of armor. It deals high damage and has a large hitbox and is highly recommended, but you receive a lot of damage for each parry so you need to be careful of your HP.
The two Impulse Edge arts, Flame of Purgatory (煉獄の劫火) and Shining Ray (シャイニングレイ) allow you to deal different typed damage which adds variety to the ways a Long Blade can deal damage. Flame of Purgatory is especially good on downed Aragami.
Noteworthy Jump Arts:
- Void Cutter (虚空斬り)
- Spinning Descent (スピニングフォール)
Void Cutter (虚空斬り) deals damage that ignores a % of armor and can be performed up to 3 times which each iteration being able to be steered in any direction. It has a big vertical hitbox that can hit downed enemies if you do it closer to the ground. It a good air Art, but has a long landing recovery after the attack that makes it unsafe in a lot of situations.
Spinning Descent (スピニングフォール) does good damage but its hitbox can be a bit awkward if you aren’t familiar with the somersault’s trajectory. To land a good hit with this Art, you often need to stand a good distance away or supplement this with a backwards jump if you are at point-blank range.
Noteworthy Step Arts:
-
Apsara Wings (飛天翔)
-
Flashing Blade (刹那の斬光)
Apsara Wings (飛天翔) has a bit of startup and performs an attack similar to a Short Blade’s Rising Edge. The hitbox is expands vertically and it allows you to chain into an air Art for more damage, or an air guard/jump away for safety. Its an overall good art with a lot of use that can fit into any set of ground and air Burst Arts.
Flashing Blade (刹那の斬光) has a very narrow and awkward hitbox but provides decent damage. However, it has a long recovery time which, when considered in conjunction with its hitbox, can make it difficult to use in some situations.
