9 Years, huh
Annual roundup post for 2025 where I talk about this year, and tell you what I’m gonna try to do in the future.
Announcements
The most important announcement is that this website’s WordPress plan has been downgraded from Business to Premium. This means the website will look slightly worse, function a bit worse on mobile, have uglier url links and have a fair bit less QoL features.
However, the website hosting fees will change from 345 USD annually to 170 USD every 2 years. Bless.
The changeover was done roughly 3 weeks ago, so if you’ve been using the website recently you’d probably notice some broken things like links, images, texts and layout issues. I will fix these issues over the next few weeks but I have a lot on my plate right now so I’m struggling to make the time.
I also intend to go completely ad-free in the future, but not sure when that will be. The ads make the website a lot slower to load than I’d like.
The other announcement is that I work full time now so I have less time to make content, maintain the website and stream in general.
2025
2025 was the biggest year I’ve had on my Twitch Channel. I had 338 new followers, 99 new subscribers (mostly from gift-subs), and I was also the most watched Devil May Cry 5 channel for roughly 40% to 50% of the year.
On the YouTube front I hit 8 Million Total Views this year, and my website is up to 3,331,661 total views.
If your eyes glistened reading all that, you need to be reminded that numbers do not tell the full story. I uploaded no new videos to YouTube this year, wrote no new posts for the website and I primarily streamed to Twitch.
So why no new YouTubes and website stuff?
Well, the only answer I can come up with is that I’m stupid. I’m the one who gets stuck looking at numbers, bullying myself into thinking I have to acquiesce to an algorithm. Thinking my content isn’t worth a damn if it doesn’t get clicks. Thinking I’m not allowed to do what I like because my YouTube viewerbase doesn’t give a fuck about games that aren’t anime.
My 10 years doing YouTube is really showing here, huh? How the hell else are you gonna end up with such a screwed up perspective where you feel like you have to be validated by analytics to be reassured your content is good?
The reality is that good and bad means nothing when it comes to content. People watch shit, slop, mediocrity and greatness all the same, doesn’t matter. Most of them probably can’t even tell the difference. To be honest, mediocrity may even be better than greatness because a lot of people want something they can relate to.
At the end of the day, the average viewer just wants to be entertained. Or stimulated parasocially.
With that in mind, I’ll try to do whatever I want. Likely, the correct answer to my content style and the YouTube climate right now, is to find a balance between clickbait bullshit, telling a story in gameplay and showing high level uncut raw gameplay footage. Or something along the lines of turning gameplay into a circus attraction. For successful content, entertainment value is always better than esoteric skill showcase.
But success on YouTube has pretty much stopped mattering to me. So I’ll try to generate a consistent stream of videos I want to make, while aware of the kinds of ways my videos could be re-appropriated for the largest possible target market to care. The important part for me right now is to start, and to maintain consistency without losing heart and giving up again.
I’ll figure something out. But the one thing I will stop doing is standing still. Will not get winded when my high effort videos get 86 views again.
It’s time to move forward.
Goals For 2026+
- Make YouTube videos consistently
- Stream to Twitch consistently
- Finish up my DMC5 guide here on the website (It’s missing boss guides)
- Make a Final BlazBlue Central Fiction Izanami CMV
I primarily want to cover Devil May Cry 5 for videos and streams. It’s the game I enjoy the most right now. But I will stream anything I find interesting in 2026.
I was thinking about covering God Eater 3 again, but I don’t really have much enjoyment playing the game solo anymore, so that one is a maybe. I also do want to get good at all the Gunvolt games (maybe excluding Gunvolt 3). I have been intending to do Luminous Avenger iX 1 videos for like 2 years now, but I keep getting distracted. I have not forgotten and will definitely practice it this year.
Basically, the plans for 2026 is to have fun making content, and to try to improve as a player and as an entertainer. No serious goals this time because I always put too much pressure on myself and I need to stop doing that.
But I will continue to play as hard as I always do, to be the best I can possibly be.
That’s all.
Thank you for reading and happy Holidays.
Awesome update- love the content!
