Overview
The game’s combo food. DMC5‘s standard mob type. Usually appears in a gang. Has average HP and average attack range, but can be surprisingly aggressive on higher difficulties if they surround you.
Attacks & Quirks
Hell Caina only has close range attacks using its scythe. They have a backswinging attack if you are behind them and they have a running uppercut attack if they are far away. These attacks have fairly long startup so you tend to only get hit by them if you weren’t really looking.
Cainas can also sometimes put up their scythes as a shield and try to block your attacks. If you jump behind them when they do this, you can get behind their defenses. You can also use guard breaking attacks to flex your game knowledge.
Strategy for Fighting Hell Caina
This enemy flinches in reaction to most attacks and can be combo-ed very easily making them usually not much of a threat. They have surprisingly large range on their scythe attacks, but its attacks are quite slow and fairly easy to react to.
No explicit strategy required. Just don’t let them surround you, watch out for the running attack and don’t drop combos on them.
Danger Case: How This Demon Can Kill You
You are having a great time combo-ing one Caina in the air. But then you dropped the combo because Hat Trick is hard to hit. There’s 4 or 5 more Cainas in Devil Trigger next to you when you land. They scream. They swing. You blink. You get combo-ed. You died. Stare into the mirror, ask yourself how could you die to combo food. Cry in the shower. Have an existential crisis.
You might think I’m joking around, but this will happen to you sooner or later if you keep playing. The other way this guy kills you is if he creeps up on you in Devil Trigger while you are focusing on something else. Or you underestimate how much armor it gains during its running attack.
I think this enemy gets bullied so much that sometimes we even forget that he is there on some Kuroko no Basket type shit. That’s when disaster strikes.
